Here's the latest news from the Cambrian Community Centre.

Cambrian Centre supports ARThouse
ARThouse is Richmond’s free annual open studios exhibition, celebrating the vast creative talent that exists within the borough of Richmond upon Thames. ARThouse will be coming to the Cambrian Centre this weekend - Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2015, when drawings by members of the Cambrian Drawing Group and sculptures by the Papier Machistas group, who are both based at the Cambrian Centre, will be on show between 11am and 6pm. Free entrance!
The Cambrian Centre will also be acting as a local hub directing visitors to nearby local ARThouse artists Fiona Poynter (26 Hobart Place), Simon Klein (1a Cambrian Rd), Chris Bell (Studio 8, Dickson House) and James Cowan (10 Charlotte Square). Please visit the ARThouse website for more information.
In addition to the ARThouse exhibition there will be a second-hand book sale at the Cambrian Centre and teas. Everyone is very welcome to come along to browse books and have a chat about the art with group members.
Queens Road Consultation
Richmond Parish Lands Charity (RPLC) are holding a consultation to seek views on the future of the RPLC properties and freehold land at the junction of Queen's Road and Cambrian Road . The area includes the Cambrian Community Centre, the Sports/Recreation Area and Dickson House and associated parking space.  These properties and land are seen as important part of the charity's assets. Over the years the site has seen capital projects and initiatives aimed at supporting the local community with a particular focus on the residents of the Queen's Road Estate. This consultation gives local people the valuable opportunity to voice their ideas for the buildings, land and area in general.  The RPLC Trustees are interested in hearing your views regarding what you consider to be the best options for the site and to let them know what other needs they should be considering.  The consultation can be accessed online from the main page of  the Richmond Parish Lands Charity web site   It is available as a word document or a form which can be completed online.  Paper copies are available at the Cambrian Community Centre.
Please let the RPLC know what you think, for example:
  • What is needed by the local community?
  • What facilities and activities would best serve those living nearby?
  • What would help local voluntary groups or charities working in the area?
This consultation is likely to affect the future of the Cambrian Community Centre and Gym, so please ensure your views are heard.
The consultation will close on Friday 17 July 2015.
Recent Fundraising Events
The Cambrian Community Centre would like to thank all those who supported their stall at the May Fair held on Richmond Green and those who sponsored the team who took part in the recent sponsored walk organised by the Rotary Club of Kew Gardens. The final totals for these two events are yet to be agreed but will be in excess of £3,500. In addition to covering running costs at the CCC these funds will be used towards the purchase a new piece of equipment for the gym in memory of Andy Naylor-Vane our gym colleague who died very unexpectedly earlier this year.
