Seasons Greetings!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As 2015 draws to a close, we would like to wish all our users and supporters a very happy Christmas and New Year, and to thank you all for your support. We hope to see you at the Centre in 2016.

Gym Closure over Christmas/New Year: The Gym will be closed from 24th to 28th December (inclusive) and on 1st and 2nd January (New Year).  On 29th to 31st December the Gym is open from 10am to 1pm only.  From Monday 4th January onwards normal opening hours will apply.

Christmas Concert Above: The Cambrian "Singing for Fun" Group giving a Christmas Concert at Isabella Court on 14th December

SAVE THE DATE!  Saturday 5th March.  We are repeating the very successful Supper Quiz that we held last year. Everybody will be welcome. Come and join a table or bring your friends. Further details to follow early in 2016

Gym machine
The new Arm Ergometer

NEW GYM MACHINE. Our new Arm Ergometer is now installed and is shown in the picture. It is being used extensively by our gym members. We are delighted to thank Kew Gardens Rotary Club for their generous donation towards the cost. Helen Smith, President of Kew Rotary, presented our gym staff with a cheque for £2000 at the annual meeting reported below.  We are also grateful for a very generous grant towards this equipment from Heathrow Communities Fund and also a further grant for Gym Equipment from IBM.  Without these grants we could not have purchased this expensive but very useful device, which is of great importance to our exercise referral role.

Last minute gift ideas: For your family or friends, how about a gift voucher for the gym or to join one of the activities in the Centre?  For example for the Drawing Group, Singing for Fun or Line Dancing.  Contact us, or if you are short of time, you can use your own home-made voucher. You can then talk to us in the New Year on how the recipient can access the gym or chosen activity.

Annual Meeting and Social - held on November 28th  This meeting was very well attended and appreciated. The presentation about the future by Jonathan Monckton was of great interest and provoked some good discussion. This followed RPLC's consultation held earlier in the year.  They are considering a variety of options, including moving the Centre and gym to a different building. The Centre will be submitting a response to RPLC early next year, and your comments would be welcome. At the meeting we also presented details of the past year and the current financial position. The meeting handout is available on our website and can be seen by clicking this link.

Jumble Sale (November): Many thanks to everyone who helped and/or who contributed jumble. We had a very successful event and raised over £800.

Volunteering opportunities: We continue to need help. The Centre would welcome additional volunteers, especially from those with IT and general “DIY” skills. More information is on our web site here.  For example, we need more volunteers to help with the IT Drop-in support sessions on Wednesday mornings with more people now attending. Please get in touch if you can help.

Our activities: Don't forget you can see all the activities that are running at the Cambrian Centre from "The What's On" page on our website

Many of the activities will take a break during the Christmas/New Year period.  For example the IT Drop in sessions will run on 16th December, but then take a break until the first week in January.
