Seasons Greetings!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As 2016 draws to a close, we would like to wish all our users and supporters a very happy Christmas and New Year, and to thank you all for your support. We hope to see you at the Centre in 2017.

Janet is leaving. At the end of 2016 Janet Alissi will be leaving the gym team after 27 years of valuable service. Janet was one of the people who set up the "Workhouse Gym", as it was then known, back in 1989, and the gym has now become an important resource to local residents to help them improve and maintain their health. In particular Janet has developed the Cardiac Support Programme and has seen the gym play a continuing role in the Exercise Referral Scheme. Janet has built up a well deserved reputation with health professionals and many of the gym users have spoken over the years of the positive impact her support has made to their ongoing recovery.
On Wednesday 21st December, we held a very well attended retirement party at the Centre to send Janet off in style! We wish Janet well and say “Thank You” for her hard work and commitment. She will be missed!

SAVE THE DATE! Saturday 4th March. We are repeating the Supper Quiz which has been a popular success for the last two years. Everyone is very welcome to join in.  Come and join a table or bring your friends. Further details to follow early in 2017.

Gym Redecoration. In recent days the gym has been redecorated. Many thanks for the compliments and we hope all gym users continue to enjoy the new colour.

Last minute gift ideas: For your family or friends, how about a gift voucher for the gym or to join one of the activities in the Centre? For example for the Drawing Group, Singing for Fun or Line Dancing. Contact us, or if you are short of time, you can use your own home-made voucher. You can then talk to us in the New Year on how the recipient can access the gym or chosen activity.

Fundraising: Many thanks to all who supported our Autumn Jumble Sale which raised over £500.

Blue Red Dancer by Desmond Jones

An exciting new venture in our fundraising calendar is a local art auction due to be held in 2017. Desmond Jones was a professional artist who trained at Twickenham Art School during the Second World War. His daughter Elaine Samuels is arranging an auction of his work and very generously asked local charities if they would like to have the proceeds of a painting of their choice when it is auctioned. The Cambrian Centre has chosen "Blue/Red Dancer" which is pictured here. Further details of the auction will be sent when confirmed.

Our activities: Don't forget you can see all the activities that are running at the Cambrian Centre from "The What's On" page on our website We are hoping to include Tai Chi back into the timetable in the New Year - more details to follow.
