NEWS FROM THE CAMBRIAN CENTRE

Dear supporter,

We hope you had a good summer and that autumn is going well so far.

Activity Programme

Here at the Cambrian Community Centre (CCC) our activity programme has returned after the summer break and we are pleased to welcome back our Singing, Drawing and Creative Writing groups, and our exercise groups- Pilates, Tai Chi and Line Dancing. These groups are run directly by the CCC in response to requests from local residents. We aim to keep the cost of these activities to a reasonable amount, e.g. £4 for 1 hour exercise class, £5 for two hours of Singing and Creative Writing and £6 for Drawing, which includes materials.

Our Wednesday morning computer Help sessions are also back - there is no charge to attend these sessions and our volunteers are very happy to help with using computer or tablet. Call us to book a session.

We are very fortunate to have great tutors at the Centre - experienced, friendly and understanding of what the group want from the sessions - if you would like to know more please contact the Centre or look at our new website: http://cambriancentre.org

The CCC gym is also another great way to exercise. Why not call in on our open day (28th October - see below) and chat to the gym team about how this local centre could help with staying active especially as one ages or experiences health issues.

Are you a carer for children aged 5 or under? If so please call in to the Stay and Play Sessions run by Ham Children’s Centre at the CCC on Monday mornings from 9.30am to 11.00 am. There is no charge to attend these sessions and they are open to all – parents, grandparents, childminders nannies etc.

In addition the CCC is used by a variety of groups to deliver numerous activities- First Aid, Before and After School Childcare, English Conversation, Paper Mache, Campfire Singing, Life Drawing , Baby Sensory, Toddler Creative Play, Keyboard lessons for children and many more.

For more information please contact the Centre or visit our website. You can also keep up to date on our Twitter (@cambrian_centre) and Facebook (Facebook: Cambrian Community Centre)
The CCC continues to host the local resident meetings for those living on the Queens Road Estate attended by key staff from L&Q.  The date of the next meeting is the evening of Tuesday 14 November

PLEASE HOLD THESE DATES:

SATURDAY 28 OCTOBER: Gym Open Day.  The CCC gym will be having an open day, during which regular gym users will be holding their annual sponsored event – walking along the Thames from Greenwich to Richmond while staying in the gym.  This is a great opportunity to call in and talk to the gym team. Please contact the gym if you would like to sponsor the "walkers" or you can do this online using the MyDonate Button on the "How You Can Help" page on the website.  In addition the Mulberry Centre, our local cancer support centre, will be holding a Fun Information Session at the CCC. There will be many activities for all ages plus tea/coffee and cake. Please put this date in your diary to come along and find out how the Mulberry Centre can support all affected by cancer, including family and friends.

SUNDAY 26 NOVEMBER: Richmond Park event, including David Attenborough Film

The Friends of Richmond Park are working with the CCC to hold an event about Richmond Park.  This will include showing the recent film of the Park featuring Sir David Attenborough and also provide an opportunity to discuss issues connected with this important local landmark. The event will start at 2:30 pm and there is no charge to attend.
