We are delighted to announce that many of our popular activity groups will be restarting from September. This begins with our drawing group on 4th September. All activity groups must complete a risk assessment before restarting. There will also be a number of changes to the way groups are run including the changes to the layout of the Centre.
We don’t expect all groups to restart at the same time and there will be a gradual return to a full programme at the Centre.
Further updates will be posted as we develop the reopening of the Centre over the next few weeks.
Thanks for your patience and we are really looking forward to seeing you again soon!
Hello everyone. We are writing to update you all on our plans for reopening the sorely missed Cambrian Community Gym. We have been working hard to develop plans to ensure a safe reopening and implement new procedures to ensure the ongoing safe operation of the gym. These are outlined briefly below.
We are intending to reopen to members on Monday 7th September.
The gym will operate normal hours 9am-3pm and all our previous gym staff team (Vicki, Paul, Sam and Victoria) remain with us.
There will be a number of changes to gym operation. These will include;
A new one way entrance and exit system – with entrance into the gym via Cambrian Rd and exit out onto the car parking area.
A booking system- We need to limit numbers of users and this is the only way to ensure this.
45 minute exercise slots for users. Starting probably on the hour- IE 9-10am including a 10/15 minute gap between groups using the gym to allow cleaning and air circulation .
Layout alteration to increase space.
Installation of extractor fans.
Closure of shower/change facilities and lockers for the time being.
Increased overnight cleaning by our contracted cleaners and ongoing cleaning by staff and users of equipment.
The provision of hand santiser, wipes, and additional PPE if required.
Separation of other Centre activities and users from gym by locked door.
This is not a full list and other changes will be implemented before the reopening, which we will update you with in due course. We would be interested to hear any specific suggestions or concerns from members whilst we arrange for the works to be carried and the new systems are set up. Please do email firstname.lastname@example.org with any such points.
Take care everyone and we are very much looking forward to seeing you all again very soon.
It’s been a long break and we hope you have been taking care of yourselves. We have now started to make plans for reopening and will be able to provide more news next week following a Cambrian Centre Trustee meeting scheduled for the 4th August.
We have been working hard on opening plans and there will be many changes when we do reopen our doors. Your safety remains our number one priority so we need to make sure the Centre is able to offer all of our amazing services and activities safely to all of our users. We’re sure you can appreciate this is quite a complicated job!
We are very much looking forward to seeing you all again!
We have started delivering some online classes whilst the current lock down is in place. These are at present Tai Chi with Paul, Mondays 3.15-4.15, Gentle Yoga with Noreen, Tuesdays 11.00-12.00 and Drawing with Claire, Fridays 10-12am. We can also link interested people with our ukelele group which is meeting online on Wednesday evenings.
All of these classes are running on the Zoom platform which we have found quite simple to use . It just requires participants to either download or access Zoom online and then click on a link sent out by the class tutor prior to the session. We are available to assist with setting people up on Zoom if you need help.
We are charging the normal price for these session- £5 but will be waiving fees for anyone unable to pay at this difficult time. Payment can be made to our bank account via transfer or if you don’t use online banking we will be happy to settle up once the lockdown is relaxed.
Please email email@example.com with any questions on this.
We all hope you are doing OK in this weird world we find ourselves thrown into.
We are continuing to offer exercise guidance whilst the gym is closed. This guidance will be emailed out to gym members and can be emailed if you request it. Please do read the introduction letter and guidance carefully and follow the instructions. We will aim to email out regular updates. We are also available to respond to questions so please email any queries to firstname.lastname@example.org
In other news the drawing group have managed to continue running on Friday mornings via the app Zoom. We are available to help other groups that meet at the Cambrian Community Centre if they are interested in maintaining contact in this or other ways that comply with the social distancing requirements. Please do get in contact if you would like to explore this option.
care all and here’s to better times in the not too distant future!!
Tuesday 17th March – Following the recent government advice on the evolving Corona Virus situation we have today reluctantly taken the decision to close both the Community Centre and the Gym. We are very sorry to have to take this step but it was unavoidable in the current circumstances.
Staff will be at the Centre picking up messages and potentially assisting with local efforts to assist people. If you need assistance please do feel free to call on 0208 948 3351 or email email@example.com and we will do what we can to help.
If you are a gym member with a monthly standing order we quite understand if you decide to cancel in the light of the current situation. If you would like to continue to support the Centre by keeping these payments going we will be very grateful as the coming months look set to be quite challenging.
Please do check this website and our facebook and twitter feeds to further updates. We wish you all well and look forward to seeing you all again in the near future.
The Cambrian Community Centre will be hosting a repair cafe on the afternoon of Sunday 22nd March. “Dr Bike” will be offering small repairs and adjustments to bikes, “Works of Love”, clothing and fabric repair and alterations. We will have tools and materials to help with small repairs of small mechanical items. No electricals please. Please note Dr Bike service will finish at 3pm.
