NEWS FROM THE CAMBRIAN CENTRE GYM
Many thanks to all those who responded to our recent survey. We had an amazing response and we greatly value your feedback.
In response to your survey answers we will be making the following changes to the gym operation.
- To move to 55 minute sessions. Starting 4th April 2022
- We will retain the online booking system and aim to stick to a maximum of 6 per session. (Please note that on rare occasions this number may be exceeded.)
- We will purchase a new Cross Fit trainer after successful fundraising. This will take around 6-8 weeks to be installed
- We will also be purchasing a new pec deck and leg abductor machine
- We will investigate the provision of new group activities- esp Cardiac, Pilates and Bums Legs and Tums
- We will also investigate the possibility of a later slot (10-4 maybe)
- We will ask gym users to try to limit times on machines to 10 minutes- Instructors will try and esnsure this happens- we will moving the PC screen so that instructors are looking out onto the gym.
- We will also retain on the hours starts and ask you to try and attend and leave promptly to allow for a smooth flow of users in and out of the gym.

Staffing Update
To all Cambrian Gym Users,
As we recruit for a new member of the gym team it is likely that the gym will be closed on the following dates:
Wednesday 23rd February
Thursday 24th February (Paul on leave)
Friday 25th February
And potentially the following dates;
Wednesday 2nd March
Friday 4th March
We are very sorry about this disruption and appreciate your understanding. We expect to get back to normal opening days and times very soon. A further update will be sent out next week.
Gym Instructor Vacancies
January 2022- We are currently recruiting for a gym instructor. This person will cover the gym and undertake exercise referral assessments for people referred via GP/physio etc. If you are interested or know someone who might be please drop us an email to request application information.
Cancellation
Unfortunately, due to the current Covid situation we are cancelling the Jolly Cambrian Christmas open afternoon event on the 18th December. It is a great shame and we are very disappointed.
We wish all of you a very Happy Christmas and really hope we can have a less disrupted New Year in 2022!
A Jolly Cambrian Christmas
We would be delighted if you could join us for our Christmas event “A Jolly Cambrian Christmas” on either the afternoon/evening of the 17th December or on the afternoon of the 18th December. The weekend will involve ballet and capoeira performances, carols and Christmas tunes, art displays, a poetry reading, stalls, a Christmas raffle and of course mulled wine and mince pies! Please come along for a festive treat!

Moonlight and Roses Concert
The Cambrian Community Centre is delighted to welcome back the Richmond Good Neighbours afternoon tea session on Wednesday 10th November with an extra special musical performance. “Moonlight and Roses” will feature the Connaught Opera performing some classic romantic melodies. The performance will start at 2.45pm with tea and coffee served from 2.30pm.

Storytime event
The Cambrian Community Centre is hosting a one off story time event with children’s author Tina Talbot on Saturday 30th October. Tina will be reading from her book the “Daring Droplets Diary”. The event is for children aged 5-8 years old and takes place at the Centre between 1 and 2pm on Saturday 30th October. (Entrance via Cambrian Rd.)

Watercolour Landscape Painting Session
14th August 11-3pm
We are delighted to be able to offer a day with Jabeen Ghauri, a local artist, painting in Richmond Park. https://www.instagram.com/p/6-S-RdpVu7/Jabeen will offer a quick demonstration followed by tips and guidance for artists at any level.
Cost for the day £6

Willow Weaving Session
We are delighted that Gina Martin, a celebrated willow artist, will be offering a willow sculpting session with us on Saturday 14th August.
Gina will provide guidance and all materials. The sessions are free and informal with children and families welcome to drop in and take part during the day.
We are planning on being on the grass area at Charlotte Square between 11 and 3pm on 14th August. Drop by and have a go!
