Sue Pendle, Chair of Trustees at the Cambrian Community Centre to present at the next Richmond Society meeting

Sue will be presenting to the next meeting of the Richmond Society on 13^th Feb at 7.30 pm at Richmond And Hillcroft Community College.

Sue will will talk about the Centre, its background, ethos and objectives, what’s on offer, recent developments and future plans. One of Richmond’s hidden gems, the Centre is located on the Queen’s Road Estate towards the top of Richmond Hill, serving people across the borough since 1989. It has a community gym, offers a range of activities, for example, yoga, choir table tennis, creative writing, drawing and choir, it also offers space for other organisations providing alternative activities and services.

Sarah Ritchie, from The Real Junk Food Project, will join Sue to talk about the popular Wednesday lunch Café the Project provides at the Centre, and the sterling work it does elsewhere in the borough.

The Cambrian kitchen is formally opened

The centre was buzzing with people last Friday afternoon as the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames Cllr. Pyne officially opened the new kitchen at the Cambrian Community Centre.

The Mayor was joined by Sarah Olney MP, Cllr. Nancy Baldwin, Cllr. Chris Varley and a host of centre supporters from the local community, colleagues from local organisations, the Council and centre users for tea and cakes with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony.

It was a lovely afternoon with some great words said about the centre, the work we do and the activities on offer. Thank you to all those who baked, made tea and attended, the The Real Junk Food Project- Twickenham for the pastries and cakes and all the supporters for making it a great afternoon.

Could you join our Board of Trustees

Can you help us?

We are looking for additional Trustees for the Cambrian Community Centre.

You would be joining an established and active Trustee Board which oversees the direction and management of the Centre.

The Board meets every other month on Tuesday evenings at 7.00 pm and there is some work and/or meetings to take forward specific pieces of work, in between the formal meetings.

We are looking for people who will be actively involved in the work of the Trustee Board and who are committed to ensuring the Centre is managed effectively and fulfilling its charitable purpose.

You should be able to work effectively as part of a team of people and have the capacity to contribute to discussions on policies, direction and financial management.

Whilst not essential we would be particularly interested in hearing from people who might have a backgrounds in the health service, marketing and communications or IT/Digital work.

This is an opportunity to get involved and to support the Centre in its work.

Kitchen update-half way there

We are nearly at the end of week 3 and thought that we would update you on our kitchen build.

As you can see the kitchen space looks completely different. The base frames for the cupboards and work tops are in place and the new boiler has been installed and is working. The flooring is the next step as is plastering the walls and making ready for the installation of wall cupboards.

It’s progressing well and the builders are working hard. We are looking forward to watching the kitchen take more shape in the next coming weeks. More photos can be seen on our social media accounts, why not follow up on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) or Facebook.
